Ornate Decorative Ceiling Roses
Plaster ceiling roses, which were not only fitted for decoration, but also to collect the soot rising from the oil lamps or candles below, wherein the main a feature of Victorian period ceiling style, but there are some examples during the Regency Period, especially during the later years that overlapped the early Victorian times.
The Regency examples tend to the elaborate classical features such as acanthus and anthemion ornament and were often the only detail applied to a ceiling apart from the Cornice.
The victorian design employed a higher level of enrichment and design, with the use of floral and leaf ornament along with the previously used classical elements of style
